 Pioneer Plasma Displays
Ultra-High-Definition Plasma With TV Tuner
"Best TV Quality" winner. Nobody can touch the 43” PDP-4340HD widescreen high-definition
plasma TV from Pioneer. This display is so visually stunning that you’ll wonder
how it’s possible. Well, please...keep reading. It's an interesting advancement
in TV technology. The
PDP-4340HD comes fully loaded: its outboard media receiver is equipped with
an ATSC terrestrial HDTV tuner and a full set of interfaces, including a next-generation
High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI). This all-digital, high-bandwidth
consumer interface can transfer huge amounts of pure, digital data at very high
rates of speed. Two-way stereo speakers and a swivel stand are also included.
Pure Drive—100% Digital All The Way
Other plasma panels perform multiple conversions from analog to digital,
then back and forth before the image finally emerges onto the screen. These
conversions add video noise and degrade the image. Pioneer PureVision plasmas
use Pure Drive, an innovative new technology that maintains a digital path throughout
signal processing. This streamlined Pure Drive process provides an optimal picture
with virtually no video noise or loss of quality.

Most plasma panels show messy, distracting lines of dots on faces and other
contoured objects. This effect, referred to as "dot-crawl," can be avoided by
keeping Y signals (brightness) and C signals (color) apart. Pioneer's 10-Bit
3D Y/C Separator gives greater detail to the video information and provides
more power to keep the Ys separate from the Cs, clearing up dot-crawl.
Pioneer Versatile Media Receiver—Intuitive
Your Pioneer PDP includes a powerful Media Receiver that incorporates a
terrestrial digital TV tuner and features three sets of component inputs. Intuitive
and easy-to-use, it's also conveniently compact and can be installed vertically
or horizontally according to your tastes and setup.

Advanced Pure Cinema 3:3 Pulldown—Pass The Popcorn
Film is famous for that smooth, cinematic visual quality that brings stories
to life. But if a movie was shown on TV in its original, 24-frames-per-second
(fps) format, the action would appear to stutter and the film would be virtually
un-watchable. To correct this problem, broadcasters use a process called "3:2
pulldown with progressive scan," adding six frames to the film's original 24
so that it can work within the NTSC standard, which is 30 fps. Unfortunately,
this technique still leaves some distracting side effects like jerky, uneven
motion—especially in fast-moving scenes.

Other plasma displays employ some complicated math to try to work around this
problem—usually without complete success. Pioneer offers a simpler, more
elegant solution called Advanced PureCinema 3:3 Pulldown, which greatly improves
the look of film. No one else has been able to accomplish 3:3 Pulldown in a
plasma panel—and it shows. Your PureVision plasma has the technology inside to speed up the TV's refresh
rate to 72 fps. With that kind of speed, all we have to do is multiply the original
frame three times and voila, time misalignments are smoothed over and you see
silky, natural motion—just like the director intended.
Speakers That Move
Pioneer offers flexible mounting systems for PureVision's compact, detachable
speakers, so you can fit the panel into your space. On Pioneer models, you can
choose to place them on the side and recessed, or underneath the PDP. Elite models
offer flush or recessed side mounting.

They're so sleek and stylish, you might want to trade off locations from time
to time just to keep things interesting.

Advanced Continous Emission Display Technology
Conventional PDPs suffer from poor image reproduction in the low brightness
range. Pioneer's improved technology brings the benefit of 10-bit signal processing
to produce smooth, accurate low intensity images. In fact, gradiation reproduction
in this range is about 16 times better than other PDPs. Even with dark images,
detailed patterns are faithfully reproduced.

Pure Color Filter Improves Contrast
This display uses a new Pure Color Filter that greatly decreases external
light reflectivity (as much as 30%, depending on conditions). The result
is significantly higher contrast, providing an extremely clear display in bright
environments. At the same time, it optimizes the components of the red, green
and blue light by filtering out undesirable colors to display greatly improved
image reproduction.
True Matrix Imaging With Deep Encased Cell Structure
Rather then the rows of cells commonly used in other PDPs, Pioneer has developed
an Encased Cell Structure that increases phophor areas by as much as 40% and
eliminates light leakage from neighboring cells for a brighter, clearer picture.
For the PDP-4340HD, we've further improved this technology by making each indivisual
cell deaper. This results in higher light emission efficiency - 60% higher then
our previous model.

Anywhere, Anytime
The brightest panels stand out in the electronics showroom, but investigate
what's behind the brightness before you buy. While some manufacturers artificially
crank up their settings, Pioneer uses technology that will maintain brightness
where it counts: in your home.

Imagine trying to paint a beautiful scene using a thick paint roller. That's
the imprecise effect you can see when other panels lay their phosphor cells
out in rows. The light spills over and you get a sloppy, heavy-handed look.
Pioneer PureVision plasmas use Deep Encased Cell Structure like the fine tip
of an artist's brush to paint an unbelievably precise, stunningly accurate picture
that's "bright" where you want it.
